CHATS (County Hospital alert Tracking System) – CHATS is a real-time computerized monitoring system of hospitals and EMS systems status throughout Maryland. Hospital emergency departments that are temporarily unable to accept ambulance-transported patients due to overcrowding or hospital overload are identified so that ambulances can be diverted to other, less crowded ED facilities

As firefighters are periled, they place their lives second to those they protect. They are forced to face their own fears and grasp for every ounce of courage to perform the necessary task. “The Thin Red Line of Courage” represents the last ounce of courage firefighters find deep in their blood to conquer their darkest fears in order to save and protect life and property. The firefighters from the Apex Volunteer Fire Department designed and developed the “The Thin Red Line of Courage” in 1999. Today, it is displayed to show respect for firefighters injured and killed in the line of duty.

Mission Statement

The Bishopville Volunteer Fire Department is an incorporated company dedicated to the delivery of quality Fire, Rescue and Emergency Medical Services to the residents and visitors of the Area and Worcester County. Funded through County Grants, Donations, and Fund Raisers, the company strives to provide quality and expanded services through emergency responses, stewardship and training. This mission is accomplished with qualified and dedicated personnel from the community.
